Expression Engine is the king in web log management systems. In the Netherlands lots of big marketing blogs use Expression Engine, among which marketingfacts, adfoblog, resultblog, vue royale and brickmeetsbyte. FreshCreation also uses an (early) version of Expression Engine.

ExpressionEngine is open source. It is made in PHP and you can change every line code yourself. It is a very flexible system, and so far I haven’t found any limitations. Their claim is they have the most flexible system in the world, although I haven’t been able to check that of course. Besides, ExpressionEngine has an excellent forum in which questions, even relatively dumb beginners questions, are followed up quickly. Therefore people can start using ExpressionEngine almost instantly. I installed and started using it myself in 2006. Meanwhile my questions have become that complex, that I partly outsourced the development to a real EE professional.

EllisLab is ExpressionEngine’s maker. Ellislab too has an affiliate program in which existing customers are rewarded for bringing in new customers.
