Gloveinput for shooting soldier

Rallypoint has designed a glove for soldiers that enables them to use firearms and a computer simultaneously. It's supposed to ensure that computer usage won't be restricted to safe situations.

Use of the glove, in combination with a display inside the helmet, should enable navigation with the help of digital maps, activate radio communication or send commands whilst in a fire fight or during a drive.

The glove has four sensors sewn into it and an extra sensor on the index finger with which the input mode of ‘map’ to ‘mouse’ can be modified. Radio communication (on different channels) can be controlled with the middle and little finger. The middle finger can, in mouse mode, be moved against a hard object such as a wall or a weapon and will act as mouse, enabling the selection of things on screen. The little finger functions as mouse button.

Future Vision by Erwin Van Lun on this article

Soldiers are equipped with less weight and more and more technology. In principle the possibilities become endless. Think of commands that can be sent to fighting robots, asking for air-support during a fire fight or live satellite-images of the surrounding area. In future these technologies will be refined. As soon as these become cheaper they’ll be made available to the consumer.
