Apple iPad: what else?

How to illustrate the future? How to illustrate the mediacompletion trend which dominates all trends until 2020? Apple shows us the future.

Future Vision by Erwin Van Lun on this article

Hard to imagine that also this awesome invention is just a step into the future. We’ll have 3D rendering, we’ll have build-in camera’s which will turn these kind of screens into portable windows to virtual rooms, spaces, worlds.  And the iPad will respond to our gestures in front of the screen (instead of touching it), to our movements, to our expression, to our voices. It’s all just an evolution.

But it’s great anyway! grin

The iPad as the first step into the future. Even though the iPad is heavily critized these days (which can also be seen as a regular pattern) I think it will eventually be a bestseller. Today I also read an interesting article about the fact that the usage of devices like the iPad will make paid content being accepted.

- I love these iFans….get real, it is NOT revolutionary in the industry…for mac users sure it is new since they never had this feature in device before the iphone.

Well, the iPad is cool at some things.  But looking on the app store I don’t find much that all that impressively uses that big ole multi-touch and graphical real estate.  That is a bit disappointing, especially since I waited for 3G.  Where are all the developers exclusively targeting this device.  It is a joy to browse the web on.  Or it would be if they would add a lot more to Safari.  Like really good page internal bookmarking, a knowledge mgmt tool a la Zotero on Firefox.  And I am really really not happy with the no Flash or embedded Java thing. That wipes out too many sites and widgets I like.
