LinkedIn makes companies even more transparent

Business social network LinkedIn introduces company profiles (see below for details, li). A lot of information that hasn't been available before has now been published. Furthermore, LinkedIn offers companies the possibility to add information. LinkedIn thus pushes the brand coming out for all companies, meanwhile becoming more and more relevant as a career coaching brand: a brand that helps you in your career.

Below you can see what information is published per company:

  • number of contacts you know there, direct or indirect
  • people who have recently joined the organization
  • people who recently changed jobs within the company
  • profiles of people that are often consulted
  • what other companies the people from this organization join when they leave the organization
  • what other companies people who join the organization have previously worked for
  • the most important locations the company is based at
  • the address of the head quarters
  • company profile
  • number of functions within the company
  • age and gender of employees

LinkedIn plans to have companies add even more, for example information about products and services, logos and recruitment materials like ads and videos.

Good examples: Shell, Philips, Ikea, Sanoma or Logica.
