The device, made by the Chinese manufacturer CKING, was first shown to the public during the IMIE2008 in China.
Powered by Butterfly’s micro-projection module, the E1000 can project stored images and video as a 30 inch image on most surfaces. It can also be connected with DVD players, portable media players, set-top boxes and laptop computers to serve as a projector, and project a movie continuously for up to two hours with an image resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The phone will retail for approximately RMB 3,000 ($434.7), and will soon be available for sale through the Internet, TV shopping channels and CKing’s distribution network in China, he said. CKing, formerly Jiangxi Jinggangshan Huayu Communications Technology Co. Ltd., was founded in 2003 and received GSM and CDMA mobile phone production licenses from the government in February 2006. In September 2006, Huayu was acquired by Hong Kong Chinaking Development Co. Ltd. and became its wholly-owned subsidiary. The company has six production lines and is capable of producing 4 million mobile phones annually.
Future Vision by Erwin Van Lun on this article
We can project everything life-sized around us. Soon we’ll be able to point out things in these images and our cell phone will respond to them. Or control them with our voice or even our posture. It’s getting ever easier to picture something of that world. A world wherein brands fill in the dialogue in a completely different way from what we think of now.
